Purpose: To deliver high-quality instruction, engaging in innovative research, and contributing to the development of Kiswahili teaching, research and innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities: -

  • Teach and assess courses in Kiswahili to both undergraduate and post graduate students;
  • Supervise postgraduate students;
  • Conduct research, publish in reputable academic journals, and present academic papers in conferences, workshops and seminars;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Kiswahili curriculum, integrating contemporary methodologies and diverse perspectives;
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental and School Board meetings and other activities;
  • Conduct community service and initiate linkages;
  • Any other official duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements for appointment: -

  • Ph.D. in Kiswahili, Linguistics or related field from an accredited and recognized academic institution;  
  • Hold Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees from an accredited and recognized academic institution;
  • Proven record of excellence in teaching and research for at least 4 years. Experience in curriculum development is highly desirable;
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods, including online and hybrid learning platforms;
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment;
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students;
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and grants.

Job Specification: -  

  • This will be the entry grade for PhD degree holders into this cadre.

Candidates interested in the position are expected to fulfil requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya. In this regard, they must submit copies of the following: - 

  • Certificate of good conduct from Director, Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  • Clearance certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Clearance from the Ethics & Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau


TERMS OF SERVICE

Employment for the above mentioned positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms except for Tutorial Fellow. The appointed candidates will be remunerated as per the Inter Public University Councils Consultative Forum(IPUCCF) and CBA 2017-2021 approved salary rates.
