Requirements for
Appointment:
To
be eligible for appointment to the position of Lecturer, the candidate must
have:
(i) A doctorate degree (Ph.D) from an accredited/recognized institution;
(ii)
A minimum of twelve (12) research publication output points from
refereed scholarly journals and two (2) points from publications in conference
proceedings,
OR
A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points if the applicant
is from a research institution,
OR
A minimum of six (6) publication points if the applicant is from practice/industry.
(iii)
evidence of recognition and registration by the relevant
regulatory body where applicable; and
(iv)
evidence of membership or affiliation of the relevant
professional body where applicable.
Duties and
Responsibilities
Reporting to the
Chairperson of Department a lecturer will be expected to:
a. Teach, examine and assess students
in the sign language classes at undergraduate and postgraduate in the Special
needs hearing impairment option
b. Provide technical support to course
lecturers and students in sign language courses.
c. Adhere to the sign language
interpreters code of ethics.
d. Utilize technology to provide sign
language teaching and interpretation
services.
e. Maintain awareness of sign language
interpreting best practices and emerging trends.
f.
Contribute to the development of the
department through the generation of research and scholarship
g. Communicate
effectively with students and colleagues
h. Author
publications in high quality peer-reviewed academic journals
i.
Support
the institutional core values, mission and vision.
j.
Promote
positive morale and teamwork within the department and provides exceptional
customer service to students, staff and community.
k. Develop
modules or other course components in the area of expertise as and when
required
l.
Undertake administrative tasks and
responsibilities and any other duties as required by the Dean and/or Chair of Department;
