CLERK OF WORKS - GRADE NINE (9)

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

i.           Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Building Technology, Architecture or relevant field from a                 recognized and accredited institution;

ii.                  At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a comparable position

iii.                Proficiency in computer applications;

iv.                 Relevant technical and professional certification from recognized and accredited institution;

v.                   Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable);

vi.                 Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Registrar (Central Services) the Clerk of Works will be:

a.    Formulating of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for new construction projects and renovation of the existing facilities;

b.    Ensuring proper diagnosis of faulty equipment, machines and non-functional facilities in buildings and utilities to facilitate effective repairs;

c.    Advising on modern, efficient and economical use of electricity, water fuel for efficient energy use and cost reduction;

d.    Evaluating outsourced services to engage qualified service providers;

e.    Ensuring adherence of service schedules and periodic maintenance to reduce machines/equipment down time;

f.     Installing, testing and commissioning new installations of equipment, fixtures for proper utilities and services;

g.    Designing for effective installation of new equipment and fixtures to fit and conform to the existing installation;

h.    Raising request orders for necessary materials for repairs and services for proper operation and running of machines/equipment and fixtures.
