Purpose: To deliver high-quality instruction, engaging in innovative research, and contributing to the development of the economics program.

Duties and Responsibilities: -

  • Teach and asses courses in economics to both undergraduate and post graduate students.
  • Supervise postgraduate students.
  • Initiate, promote and participate in research projects.
  • Attend and participate in seminars, workshops and conference in relevant fields.
  • Participate in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the department.
  • Participate in departmental and School Board meetings and other activities.
  • Conduct community service and initiate linkages.
  • Any other official duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements for appointment: -

  • Have an earned PhD in Economics or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  •  Demonstrate competency in economic theory and quantitative methods as well as applied courses in Economics; with these areas of study constituting the coursework component of the postgraduate studies.
  • Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University as a Lecturer
  • Must show evidence of contribution to University life through active participation in departmental matters, students’ academic advising, school and university meetings committee membership and others

Job Specification:- 

  • This will be the entry grade for PhD degree holders into this cadre.

Candidates interested in the position are expected to fulfil requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya. In this regard, they must submit copies of the following: - 

  • Certificate of good conduct from Director, Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  • Clearance certificate from Higher Educations Loans Board (HELB)
  • Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Clearance from the Ethics & Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau

TERMS OF SERVICE

Employment for the above mentioned positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms except for Tutorial Fellow. The appointed candidates will be remunerated as per the Inter Public University Councils Consultative Forum(IPUCCF) and CBA 2017-2021 approved salary rates.
