Reports to: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Planning and Finance)
An officer in this level is responsible for:
Provide leadership in the ICT Directorate.
Preparing, overseeing, implementing and reviewing the University Information and Communication Technology policy and align it with the University Strategic Plan.
Integrating the use of Information and Communication Technology in teaching, learning and research.
Ensuring the University Information and Communication Technology resources are aligning to its stated strategic aspirations.
Overseeing development and support of major Information and Communication Technology systems and functions.
Developing and reviewing practice to ensure management and application of University Information and Communication Technology resources is efficient and effective.
Assessing and advising the University Management Board and the Senate on any proposed changes to the current Information and Communication Technology and practices.
Considering and recommending Information and Communication Technology budget and the allocation of Information and Communication Technology resources among users.
Facilitating implementation of Information and Communication Technology projects.
Ensuring regular update of the University website, and ensure that the content is relevant.
Ensure automation of university processes and ensure data security
Ensuring Information and Communication Technology investment priorities are effectively aligned with the University strategic plan.
Designing and implementing Information and Communication Technology business continuity and disaster recovery plan for the University.
Addressing any other Information and Communication Technology strategic and policy matters as may be referred to it by the University Management Board and the Senate.
Ensuring conformance to the requirements of management systems in the Department in conformance to ISO certification standards and aligning processes to ensure they deliver the intended outputs of the management system.
Responsible for all staff matters in Directorate.
Secretary to the University ICT Committee.
Any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Communication and Technology, Computer Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Four (4) years’ working experience as Deputy ICT Director
Be a member of relevant professional organization.
